A HOUSE FOR A RICH MAN / A HOUSE FOR A POOR MAN
This is how one single man lives, one of the richest 62 in the world.
This is how 3.6 billion people live... whose combined "wealth" equals the wealth of the richest 62. We do live, indeed, in a fair word.
A HOUSE FOR A RICH MAN / A HOUSE FOR A POOR MAN
If the report through the link below is correct, too many reasons for optimism is impossible to have.
Can you imagine…? The wealth of one of the richest 62 people in the world equals the collective “wealth” of the poorest 58,064,516 people… a big country, that is.
Again, the wealth of the richest 62 people in the world equals the collective “wealth” of the poorest 3.6 billion.
And the gap, as if this was not enough, will increase.
Can we continue to even add words on this page…? Would they have any meaning…?
The outrageousness of this data is so horrible that words seem powerless, now.
One person vs. 58 million.
58 million poor people = one rich person (in terms of wealth).
Of course, the word “wealth” is appropriate for only the one person, because we certainly cannot call “wealth” the collective misery of more than 58 million.
Could we even protest…?!
We wonder: why can’t architecture protest, through its own means, the way Moliere did, with words, in some of his comedies…?
Picasso protested war, Goya did the same, Moliere protested avarice and other vices… only architecture, even at a theoretical level, remains stuck, tragically so, serving vice, abuse, and maybe even war.
It almost makes one wonder: is it really a glorious thing to be an architect…?
That is, to most probably work for one of those 62 (if you are "lucky"), and most certainly not for those 3.6 billion.
These numbers make one tremble.
Is there a God in the sky…?
And if there is, what is He doing…????????
Is He just watching…?????????
We must try to do something about it, although, of course, we are powerless.
Yet, we can perhaps fight this state of affairs through a militant architecture.
Let’s be the Moliere of Architecture, or the Picasso of Architecture, or the Goya of Architecture. LET’S PROTEST!
We invite you to be as CAUSTIC AS POSSIBLE, AS INDIGNANT AS POSSIBLE, AS TREMBLING WITH FURY AS POSSIBLE. AND TO SCREAM!
Design THE MOST ACID, ACCUSATORY ARCHITECTURE, against what this link describes: make those “lucky” 62 feel ashamed, if they still have feelings.
Imagine the poor house of 58 million people right next to the house of 1 rich person. 1 vs. 58,000,000. Should we add anything else…?!?
Please send us your work as soon as your sense of indignation does not allow you any longer to do otherwise. LET'S PROTEST TOGETHER, AS LOUDLY AS POSSIBLE!!!
WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS MISERY TO CONTINUE, WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING, IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE! PLEASE...!!!
Thank you,
